20 weeks!!

Well...we have hit the big 20 Week mark this week! I honestly can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going by. 5 months already? I feel very blessed that I have felt good and have been able to continue with my normal day to day routines.

That being said, last week was a little different. I think the boys hit a growth spurt...I was starving most of the week and extremely tired. I think they are snuggled up together on my left side, for the past few weeks when I sit down it feels like they are pushing a rib in my back out. It's not very comfortable and a massage didn't do much for me last week. Today was better, so let's hope they shift to the right shortly so I can have some relief!! I am still exercising at least 4 days a week. Two of the days are with my personal trainer Regina and I try to get on the elliptical at the house or walk the other two days. I think that has been a big part in feeling good through this pregnancy. Plus, I don't feel so bad when I have the urge to devour some Cheetoh's Puffs or Goldfish as a snack.

A few snacks I can't live without right now are: clementines, apples and FiberOne granola bars. They seem to be a daily staple...

On top of the hunger and fatige, my sweet little yorkie Jimmy had and ear infection in one ear and then developed a corneal ulcer on his left eye. After two vet trips, daily medication and medicated eye drops, I *think* we are past the worst of it. I started to realize my maternal instincts kicking in when he looked at me with his eye swollen shut and I started to cry and wish I could stay home from work to take care of him. It was probably hormones or just the thought of daily naps...either way my heart went out to the little guy. On the flip side - he must feel better because about 10 minutes ago he hiked his leg and peed on me! Why? I am still asking myself that question while he spends some quiet time in his box to reflect on his actions. Ahhhh... Motherhood!

Here is my 20 Week pic. The belly seems to be growing everyday! We go to the doctor next week and will have another ultrasound. I can't wait to post pics of my sweet little boys next week!

Welcome to our blog!

I have been saying for weeks that I was going to start a blog to track our pregnancy and to follow the boys after they were born...finally here it is!

Justin and I found out on October 4, 2009 that we were expecting our first baby. We were so excited after just deciding this summer that it was the right time to start a family. Our first doctors appointment was scheduled for November 6th...a month later! I really thought we would get in right away and get everything rolling, I had no idea we would have to wait until our 8th week of pregnancy before the doctors office would see us. It was a VERY long month waiting... Luckily my uncle, Dr. Steve Torres, is an OB-GYN in Fort Smith and let us come down the Sunday before our first appt to get a sneak peak at our little baby. Little did we know there was not just one baby but TWO BABIES! We could see their hearts beating...it was truly a miracle. It was kind of ironic because on the drive to Fort Smith I had asked Justin what his reaction would be to twins. He was awesome and said it was no big deal, that it would be awesome to have twins. The only words that could come out of my mouth during that ultrasound was "Oh My Gosh...Oh My GOSH!" It took a while for it to really sink in, but what a miracle! Justin was so excited, it is amazing to have such a supportive husband.

We have been to several doctors appointments and had ultrasounds at each one so we have seen our babies grow right before our eyes. I have been incredibly lucky to have a pretty smooth pregnancy so far. There has been no nausea or morning sickness, I was pretty tired at the beginning but I think keeping up with my exercise routine has helped keep my stamina up. My only real complaints would have to be my back has hurt since day one, it started with my low back and now is below my left shoulder blade when I sit. I think the little guys are more on my left side and when I sit they are pressing against something that doesn't want to be pressed. I wasn't able to sleep very well in the beginning - only about 1 1/2 hours at a time, but now I am up to at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours before I wake up and need to reposition myself. It will be short lived and in the long run these minor inconveniences won't matter when those sweet baby boys are born!

Well, here we are, 19 weeks pregnant with twin boys. The doctor says that they are identical - mono/di twins - so that's what we are going with. At our last appointment both looked great and each weighed 6 ounces apiece. The were flipping, kicking and punching at each other...just what little boys are supposed to do. I am also still exercising. Two days a week I work on strength training and cardio with my trainer Regina. I try to get in two or three days on the treadmill or elliptical at home also. It is really important to me to stay in shape and be strong for my little guys.

I guess that's about it for my first post... Here is a pic of me at 19 weeks, getting bigger every day!
